Most COD losses in Indian e-commerce don't happen at delivery. They happen at dispatch — when a duplicate order, a wrong address, or an order nobody meant to place gets shipped anyway and comes straight back as an RTO, burning roughly ₹250 in two-way logistics per parcel (see our COD and RTO benchmarks for India).
COD confirmation apps exist to stop that. But "confirmation" means three very different things depending on the app:
- Checkout OTP — the customer proves their phone number works before the order is placed.
- WhatsApp message — the customer taps a button after ordering.
- A phone call — someone (or an AI) actually asks the customer, out loud, whether they placed the order and still want it.
An OTP proves a number is real. A button proves a thumb works. Neither proves intent — and intent is what RTO is made of. Keep that distinction in mind as you read this list; it's the honest way to compare these tools, including ours.

1. Voxmiro — best if you want the order actually confirmed, by voice
What it is: An AI voice agent that calls every COD customer within about 60 seconds of checkout, in Hindi, Hinglish or English (more Indian languages coming soon), greets them by name, reads back the order, and asks them to confirm. The outcome — voxmiro:confirmed or voxmiro:cancelled — is tagged on the Shopify order, with the recording and transcript in your dashboard. Unanswered calls retry automatically; a customer who says they never placed the order gets the order filed as cancelled, so it never ships.
Where it's different: It's the only tool on this list whose confirmation is a conversation. That catches the three things that actually cause RTO — duplicate orders ("galti se do baar ho gaya"), incomplete addresses, and orders the customer denies placing — which an OTP or a WhatsApp button structurally cannot. It also follows up NDRs: connect Shiprocket, and a failed delivery triggers a call to ask whether the customer still wants the parcel, before it converts to an RTO.
Pricing: Free to install, 30 free minutes, then ₹6.40–6.87 per started minute, prepaid; minutes never expire. A typical confirmation call runs well under a minute, so budget roughly ₹6–7 per confirmed order.
Best for: Stores doing ~300–30,000 orders/month where RTO is a real line item, and teams with nobody to make confirmation calls manually.
Honest limits: It's a newer product — no long App Store review history yet. Voice costs more per order than an OTP. If your only problem is fake phone numbers, a cheaper tool below does that job.
2. Cashfree CODFIRM — best for checkout-level filtering
What it is: Cashfree's COD app verifies intent at checkout with an OTP, then layers RTO risk scoring on top: hide or block COD by pincode, product, order value, or a customer's high-RTO history. It also does address prefill, COD fees, COD-to-prepaid conversion offers, and WhatsApp alerts for confirmation, shipping and delivery.
Strengths: Genuine pre-order filtering — a bad order stopped at checkout costs you nothing downstream. The risk-scoring and COD-blocking rules are the most complete on this list, and it comes from Cashfree, an established payments company.
Pricing (vendor-stated, billed in USD): Free plan for under 100 COD orders/month; Pro $5/mo, Premium $9.99/mo, Enterprise $50/mo — plus $0.02 per COD order in India on most tiers ($0.01 on Enterprise).
Limits: An OTP confirms the phone, not the purchase. There's no post-order verification and no NDR workflow — once the order exists, CODFIRM's job is done.
3. Shiprocket Engage — best if you already ship with Shiprocket
What it is: Shiprocket's buyer-communication suite. Automated WhatsApp messages before shipping handle order confirmation and address verification/updation, plus COD-to-prepaid conversion and abandoned-cart reminders.
Strengths: Dead simple if Shiprocket is already your aggregator — one vendor, and per-order pricing with no subscription maths.
Pricing (vendor-stated): Free to install, ₹2.49 per order covering confirmation, address verification, COD-to-prepaid and cart reminders.
Limits: WhatsApp only. A confirmation button-tap is weak intent evidence, and message templates are easy for customers to ignore. Worth knowing: its App Store rating is currently 2.3 stars from 7 reviews — read them before you commit. No NDR handling is claimed on the listing.
4. GoKwik — best for high-volume checkout optimisation
What it is: A checkout suite, not a confirmation app in the narrow sense. COD verification happens at checkout (OTP + captcha), backed by risk scoring over 200+ buyer-intent signals. It adds partial COD (take an advance to filter unserious buyers), COD fees, COD hide/control rules by pincode/product/value, and prepaid incentives. Post-order WhatsApp flows live in its separate Kwik Engage product.
Strengths: The deepest checkout-level RTO filtering here, and a large installed base of Indian D2C brands.
Pricing: Core suite pricing is not published — it's demo/sales-led. Third-party listings put App Store checkout plans from $9.99/month; treat that as indicative, not official.
Limits: It works before the order exists. Orders that pass checkout still ship unconfirmed by any human-like check, and there's no voice confirmation at any point.
5. Hillteck – Verify COD Orders — best IVR + WhatsApp hybrid
What it is: A Bengaluru-built app that verifies COD (and prepaid) orders with an automated IVR call plus a WhatsApp flow. Confirm/cancel outcomes are tagged on the order, unverified or risky orders can be auto-cancelled, and higher tiers list a "Voice AI" calling feature. It also covers address confirmation on WhatsApp, COD-to-prepaid incentives and abandoned-cart recovery.
Strengths: The closest hybrid to a calling workflow at a messaging price point, and the best-reviewed specialist app here: 4.8 stars, 157 reviews, with merchants specifically citing Indian COD use.
Pricing: Usage-based (pay per call/message) with a free trial, but exact per-call and per-message rates are not published — you get them inside the app or on request. Budget-blind comparisons are hard because of that.
Limits: IVR means keypad presses, not a conversation — it can record a yes, but it can't hear "I ordered twice by mistake." Rates not being public makes cost-per-order modelling guesswork.
6. COD King — was popular; check availability before anything else
What it is: An OTP verification app (SMS/WhatsApp, before and after order placement) with partial COD payments, COD fees, flexible show/hide COD rules, and confirmation/tracking messages. Before its listing changed, it was by far the most-reviewed app in this category — third-party snapshots from Oct 2026 show 4.9 stars and ~960–990 reviews.
The catch: As of 31 Oct 2026, its Shopify App Store page states "This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store." Historical pricing (from the last indexed listing): free to install with per-SMS rates in India from ₹1, paid tiers $9.99–$59/month with per-SMS rates down to ₹0.40. If you're already on COD King, confirm your position with the developer; if you're evaluating, you can't newly install it today.
Also considered: Consio
Consio is a polished AI phone platform for Shopify — but it's built for US/global DTC (support calls, outbound sales dialer campaigns), prices in USD ($0.10/min call + $0.30/min AI agent), and has no COD-confirmation workflow and no India/Hindi positioning in its public materials. Capable tool, wrong category for an Indian COD problem. (We compare the two directly in Voxmiro vs Consio.)
So which one should you pick?
- Your problem is fake numbers and joke orders at checkout → CODFIRM or GoKwik. Filter before the order exists; it's the cheapest layer.
- You ship on Shiprocket and want the simplest setup → Shiprocket Engage — just read its reviews first.
- You want a call, but at IVR prices → Hillteck, accepting keypad confirmation and unpublished rates.
- Your problem is real orders coming back — duplicates, wrong addresses, "I never ordered this" → that's an intent problem, and only a conversation solves it. That's the case for Voxmiro.
These layers also stack: plenty of stores run a checkout OTP filter and a post-order confirmation call, because they stop different losses. What not to do is mistake the cheapest layer for the whole job — an OTP-verified order RTOs exactly as hard as an unverified one when the customer never wanted the parcel.
Try the voice layer free: Voxmiro installs in minutes, comes with 30 free minutes, and the 2-week pilot runs on your real orders — start the free pilot or check what RTO costs you today on the RTO calculator.
FAQ
Do COD confirmation apps actually reduce RTO?
Confirmation before dispatch is one of the few RTO levers with a direct mechanism: an order the customer cancels on the call never ships, so it can't come back. How much it helps depends on your baseline — vendor-cited Indian COD RTO averages run ~20–35%, at roughly ₹150–₹300 lost per returned order (see our sourced benchmarks page). Any app promising you a specific percentage without seeing your data is guessing.
Is WhatsApp confirmation enough?
It confirms reachability, not intent. WhatsApp confirmation has one structural advantage — a written trail — and one structural weakness: tapping "confirm" costs the customer nothing, including the ones who'll refuse at the door. Voice costs the customer a sentence, and that sentence is where duplicates and wrong addresses surface.
What does confirmation cost per order?
Roughly: ₹2.49/order (Engage, WhatsApp), ~$0.02/order plus subscription (CODFIRM, OTP), or ~₹6–7/order (Voxmiro, a sub-minute voice call). Weigh that against ~₹250 lost on a single RTO — the per-order cost is rarely the deciding number; the confirmation quality is.
Can I use two of these together?
Yes — checkout filtering (CODFIRM/GoKwik) and post-order voice confirmation (Voxmiro) operate at different stages and don't conflict.
